Aldan’s Independence Day Celebration was held on
Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.
ALDAN CELEBRATES INDEPENDENCE DAY 2018
Aldan’s annual 4th of July celebration started with the Veterans of Delaware County Bike Brigade riding the parade route which was changed this year to end at the Aldan Elementary School fields because of extra activities celebrating the Borough’s 125th anniversary (Quasquicentennial). In addition to our normal complement of bands, the Penn Wood High School Marching Patriots, the Woodland String Band, the Mansfield Brass and the Mummer All Stars, who as usual performed at the festivities after the parade, the Avalon String Band led by their captain, Aldan Mayor Carmen Maniaci, joined the line of march. Many civic organizations and Aldan residents also marched. Award Winners are:

After the parade, festivities were held at the Aldan Elementary School Fields. Booths were staffed by Aldan Townwatch offering water ice and soft pretzels; Aldan Historical Commission offering 125th anniversary prints by local artist Bill Ressler; Fitness 19 offering discounted membership; Aldan 4th of July Association offering ice cream tickets; Aldan Memorial Post #1000, American Legion offering toppings for the “Aldan Dog Competition”; Aldan Boosters’ Civic Association offering hot dogs and sodas and water; Aldan 125th Committee provided additional rides and games for all. As usual the Aldan Youth Club organized the races and novelty events for children and adults.
Our DJ and amplifier supplier was Aldan Trilogy, owned by Aldan resident Michael Williams. Master of ceremonies, Aldan resident and Delaware County Council Chairman John McBlain introduced Dr. Paul Isensee of the Aldan Union Church for the invocation with the Aldan Boy Scouts, Troop 2 raising the flag during the national anthem. Our State Representative, Jamie Santora read a proclamation from the PA House of Representatives honoring Aldan on its 125th Birthday. As usual the Aldan Boosters’ Civic Association provided free pony rides for the small ones and in honor of the borough’s 125th anniversary, also sponsored discounted Balloon rides at the fields. As shown by the listed civic organizations, “It Takes a Borough to celebrate our nation’s independence!”
